Pesticides are not only used on the food we grow, but also in everyday life in our homes, gardens, pools, lawns, and even
on pets. Pesticides are toxic chemicals used to kill pests, especially insects. Approximately 67 million pounds of pesticides
every year are used on lawns.
Pesticides can be extremely dangerous, especially to children. Children have more of a risk of getting brain cancer,
asthma, lymphoma, and childhood leukemia if they live in a house that uses pesticides. Pets are also affected and sometimes
even develop lymphoma.
